National Guard Adjutant General Antonio J. Vicéns-Gonzalez to share insights with Henkel employees

Adjutant General of Puerto Rico Antonio J. Vicéns-Gonzalez will give a keynote speech at Henkel’s office in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico on June 22. As part of its Diversity Awareness Days, taking place across 14 of its North American facilities, Henkel is featuring highly regarded speakers like Vicéns-Gonzalez to speak about diversity and leadership in the workplace.

Vicéns-Gonzalez is Governor Luis Fortuño’s senior military advisor and commands a force of more than 10,000 citizen soldiers of Puerto Rico’s Army National Guard, Air National Guard and State Guard. He also is in charge of more than 445 full time civilian employees. Vicéns-Gonzalez graduated from the Puerto Rico National Guard Military Academy as well as the University of Puerto Rico with a degree in Management.

Promoting diversity, inclusion and community involvement are key components of Henkel’s culture. In fact, Esther Burgos, human resources manager for Henkel Puerto Rico, has a strong presence in the community, volunteering at the Children’s Bilingual Library Mayaguez. Burgos spearheaded the effort to bring Vicéns-Gonzalez to Henkel, and was recently invited by the General to visit Puerto Rico’s National Guard facilities in Camp Salinas to better understand what military employees experience during annual trainings or active duty.

”Employing a passionate workforce with diverse backgrounds is essential to our success and is accomplished by forming partnerships in the community and with employment sources like the military,” said Burgos. “In fact, our partnership with the military helped us recruit a new female employee who is an active member of the National Guard.”

Best known as the maker of well-known brands such as Loctite® adhesives, Dial® soaps and Purex® laundry detergents, Henkel first began holding Diversity Awareness Days in 1998 as part of its efforts to create a diverse and inclusive workplace. In addition to the keynote speech, Sabana Grande’s Diversity Day will include a job fair for families of Henkel employees.
