Ford, Henkel Take Quantum Leap into the Future of Metal Pretreatment

Ford Motor Company, along with Henkel Corporation, have produced the automotive industry's first production vehicles with a non-phosphate Bonderite® conversion coating process. This innovative technology significantly reduces costs, streamlines the vehicle assembly paint pretreatment operations, and reduces the environmental impact from the manufacturing process.
DETROIT, Mich., February 7, 2007 - Ford Motor Company, along with Henkel Corporation, have produced the automotive industry's first production vehicles with a non-phosphate Bonderite® conversion coating process. This innovative technology significantly reduces costs, streamlines the vehicle assembly paint pretreatment operations, and reduces the environmental impact from the manufacturing process.

The Bonderite® coating process reduces waste, VOC and CO2 equivalent emissions, resulting in minimal environmental impact.
