Terophon® HDF: Acoustic Damping Material Specifically for Automotive and Transport Industries
Terophon® High Damping Foam (HDF) is designed to meet the needs of light weighting in the automotive industry. Terophon® HDF quickly dampens noise-producing vibrations; swallowing the acoustic effects. Terophon® HDF is designed to replace the need for manually applied acoustic damping treatments and anti-flutter mastics, which are traditionally applied together to the surface of door skins, roof panels and deck lids to reduce panel vibration. The new Terophon® HDF product, instead combines these two products into one to provide superior acoustic vibration performance, without adding additional vehicle mass.
Terophon® HDF benefits:
- eliminates sound transmission
- dampens sound at the source
- weight reduction
- decreased production cost
Terophon® HDF allows car designers to save weight by using thinner sheet steel alternative materials such as aluminum and magnesium. Terophon® HDF comes in a dry, palletized format with 100% of the product being used, therefore eliminating waste and scrap from the application process.
