Trick-or-treating just got a whole lot stickier with the addition of duct tape to the lineup of homemade costume ideas. The Duck® brand duct tape "Stick or Treat" Halloween Costume Contest challenged participants to craft their Halloween costumes out of duct tape for the chance to win cash, and Josh Keen, 17, of Colorado Springs, Colo., is reaping the rewards of his creativity with his "Scarlet Macaw" costume.
Keen's colorful design, which incorporated more than 600 feathers and required eight different colors of duct tape to make, won him the first place, $500 cash prize. The unique creation, made from rolls of red, yellow, green, blue, black, brown, gray and white duct tape, outdid more than 40 homemade ensembles from the United States.
In addition to Keen, the "Stick or Treat" Halloween Costume Contest rewarded two additional winners for their creativity, originality and workmanship. Amanda Richardson of Avon Lake, Ohio, took the second place, $250 prize for her duct tape "Queen of Hearts" costume. The third place prize of $100 went to Rebecca Cord of Louisville, Ky., for her "Scarecrow" entry.
