The 2006 Duck® brand duct tape Stuck at Prom® Scholarship Contest challenges high school students to create and accessorize their prom formalwear with America's favorite fix-all -- duct tape.
AVON, Ohio - Want to know a fun and creative way to earn scholarship dollars for college? Hint: it's not academic, it doesn't matter if you are the star quarterback, and it really doesn't involve lengthy essays or applications. For a chance to win this scholarship, all you need is a little creativity and a lot of stick!

The 2006 Duck® brand duct tape Stuck at Prom® Scholarship Contest challenges high school students to create and accessorize their prom formalwear with America's favorite fix-all - duct tape. Rather than throw hundreds of dollars into a dress that another classmate might also wear to prom, students can invest a few bucks into some rolls of duct tape to craft one-of-a-kind outfits that are sure to steal the spotlight.

Not only can students get creative with their prom wear, but they will also have the opportunity to make college a little more affordable. The couple receiving the first place title will receive a $6,000 cash scholarship for college.

Duck® brand duct tape is available in more than 18 colors and patterns, so students can pick their favorite color combinations, get creative with their accessories, or even keep in-line with the hottest fashion trends. And, with choices like Duck brand Funky Flamingo® duct tape, and colors and patterns like camouflage, purple and black, the choices for creativity are endless!

2005 WINNERS
In 2005, high school students Krystal Long and Casey Isringhouse, of Forrest City, Ark., beat out more than 260 couples from 44 states and Canada to be named the 2005 Duck® brand duct tape Stuck at Prom® winners.

The duo attended the Forrest City High School prom in formalwear that took them four weeks and 25 rolls of duct tape to create. Long was elegantly wrapped in a two-piece dress that featured an a-line skirt and intricately laced backless top. Isringhouse's attire complemented his date, with a classic black tuxedo with orange accents, and a vest. Isringhouse's ensemble was accessorized with an over-sized black and orange cane. Long and Isringhouse's outfits were constructed with nearly every color of duct tape available, and designed in a bright harlequin pattern and cubist art motif.

The couple said the outfits were extremely hot and heavy, but the reactions made it all worthwhile. "We had a great time at our prom - our friends and classmates were really behind us," said Isringhouse. "Everyone loved the outfits and couldn't believe they were actually made of duct tape," added Long.
In all, it took the couple 25 rolls of duct tape and more than four weeks of work to complete their outfits.
