Search for the Duck Tape Dad of the Year Begins-Regional contest goes national.

What do you get when you give a roll of duct tape to a handy dad? Most likely, a very interesting project around the house or yard. But no two dads use duct tape in the same way. For that very reason, Henkel Consumer Adhesives, Inc., is holding its third annual Duck® brand Duct Tape Dad of the Year Contest.
AVON, Ohio - March 10, 2006 - What do you get when you give a roll of duct tape to a handy dad? Most likely, a very interesting project around the house or yard. But no two dads use duct tape in the same way. For that very reason, Henkel Consumer Adhesives, Inc., is holding its third annual Duck® brand Duct Tape Dad of the Year Contest.

While this contest has been regional for the last two years, the 2006 Duck brand Duct Tape Dad of the Year Contest is rolling out nationwide to celebrate dads across the country. Beginning March 13, 2006, interested children (seven-years-old and up) and adults, will have the chance to spotlight their father and his favorite fix-all - duct tape - in an original essay, explaining why he should be honored as the Duck® brand Duct Tape Dad of the Year.

The grand prize winner will receive a trip for four to the 3rd Annual Avon Heritage Duct Tape Festival in Avon, OH, the acclaimed Duct Tape Capital of the World, located 25 minutes west of Cleveland. The festival kicks off on Friday, June 16, 2006, and includes rides, games, and food, like any traditional festival. But, with a "sticky" twist, the festival also features amazing duct tape crafting, artwork, fashion and even duct tape comedy.

The first place winner will also receive a $500 cash prize; a duct tape crown and scepter; a year's supply of Duck brand duct tape and the honor of riding on the Duck brand float in the annual Duct Tape parade on Saturday morning of the Festival. The runner-up will receive a cash prize of $250 and, along with the third place winner, a year's supply of Duck brand duct tape.

Each entrant must write and submit a 75-350 word essay answering the question, "Why should my dad be named Duck Brand Duct Tape Dad of the Year?" The contest ends May 12, 2006 and entries postmarked after this date will be void.

First, second and third place winners will be chosen by a panel of judges selected by Henkel Consumer Adhesives, Inc. Contest entries will be judged based on five criteria: creativity, originality, responsiveness to the question posed, grammatical correctness of the submission and incorporation of Duck® brand duct tape into the submission.
